We organise CPD events on topics that interest our members, many of them presented by speakers with expertise in specialist areas. It has often been possible for the MCA to offer free CPD such as prior to the AGM and Animal AGM, which help you to meet your statutory CPD obligation. Our annual Conference is a 2-day event giving plenty of opportunity for learning and socialising.CPD Opportunities:
We recognise that starting out on your own following graduation is a tough time, particularly financially. For this reason, your membership of the MCA is FREE for the first year following your graduation, and continues at a reduced rate for the next 2 years. As a new graduate, you will not be expected to pay the full membership fee until your fourth year in practice following graduation. This offers you fantastic support and benefits at a time in your career when we know they will be extremely valuable.Free membership to new graduates:
Support when you need it:
The MCA will offer you support during times of uncertainty. Whether these uncertainties are caused by personal, professional or business problems, we all have times where we are unsure of the best actions. The MCA can help guide you through these times and can offer practical support and advice.
If you are unsure of what your next steps should be if an issue arises which is likely to affect you professionally, please contact the main office on 01491 739120. We have experienced and knowledgeable people available who can offer you immediate advice and work with you whilst you resolve the problem. There will always be an experienced chiropractor just a phone call away to help guide you through the process.
Out of business hours - a dedicated phone number for you to call should you need support out of office hours. You will be issued with this number once you have become a member.
Representation and protection of your interests:
The MCA represents your views and interests at the General Chiropractic Council and its various fora such as the Professional Organisations Forum, and keeps a weather eye on GCC activities by making sure we are always in attendance at the GCC Open Council meetings. In addition we also monitor and interact with the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and have close ties with the Royal College of Chiropractors and the Chiropractic Patients Association (CPA). The MCA also represents its members at organisations with a wider remit, such as the Parliamentary Group for Integrated Health (PGIH), the Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance (ARMA), the British Standards Institute (BSI) and internationally via the International Chiropractors Association (ICA).
Membership of the Alliance of UK Chiropractors (AUKC)
As an MCA member you have automatic membership of the AUKC. The AUKC is an affiliation of the 3 professional associations, the MCA, SCA & UCA, dedicated to the protection, unity and strengthening of the Chiropractic Profession in the UK. Emphasis is on education and political action to uphold and protect the rights of chiropractors to serve their patients using an evidence-based patient centred approach.
Marketing:
Access to a whole range of promotional material to help you get new patients through the door - leaflets, posters, bulletins, series of videos, use of logo's - for members to use on their own websites, in waiting rooms and clinics.
Your details are listed in the search facility of the MCA website, and you can personalise your member page to make it more helpful to those looking for you, images, maps etc. Our Facebook and Twitter pages are kept up-to-date and we grab as many chances as we can to make sure potential patients know about chiropractic.
We attend major healthcare events ensuring chiropractic is discussed and acknowledged for its place in the healthcare landscape.
Information and communications:
With Facebook, Twitter, and regular email bulletins, the 33 Principles magazine and a dedicated members area to the website, the MCA works hard to send you information which is essential and interesting. It includes access to information on available Associate Positions, and small ads.
Benevolent Fund:
The MCA's Benevolent Fund provides grants to members who find themselves in financial hardship. Application forms can be found in the 'Resources' section of the members area.
Supports the chiropractic 'Family'
The MCA recognises the importance that our members attach to the uniqueness of the chiropractic approach and the kinship you feel with other chiropractors. We get involved with people at the beginning of their journey as chiropractors, whilst they are studying at College, and throughout their chiropractic journey through the highs and lows of business, to retirement and beyond. We celebrate your successes and provide opportunities such as the AGM and Conference where you can meet socially.
To apply to become a member of the MCA, please contact the Office on 01491 739120 or email admin@mctimoney-chiropractic.org or click here if you are a new graduate
