McTimoney College of Chiropractic Website

The McTimoney approach to chiropractic is currently only taught at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic based in Abingdon and Manchester.  The College began as the Oxfordshire School of Chiropractic, founded by John McTimoney in 1972.   The demand for training in the McTimoney approach to chiropractic continues to increase.

The College’s Masters in Chiropractic (MChiro), awarded by Ulster University,  is specifically designed to provide the necessary skills, knowledge and hands-on experience needed to become a safe and competent chiropractor.

Two routes are available:

The four-year route is perfect for those coming straight from A-levels or equivalent, and includes three years of intensive academic and practical studies, with full-time clinic work in year four. Study full time at the College’s custom built premises in Oxfordshire.  Start in September each year.

The five-year route has been specifically designed for adult learners and allows them to fit their studies around other commitments, so that they can continue to work while training.  Taught through monthly weekend tutorials and summer schools with full time clinic work in year five.

Study in Oxfordshire or Manchester – the only chiropractic college in the north of England.

Both routes are accredited by the General Chiropractic Council (GCC). This means that you are qualified to apply to register with the GCC, the statutory body regulating Chiropractic in the UK.

Both routes are also accredited by the European Council on Chiropractic Education (ECCE).  This means that you have the ability to work in European states that recognise the ECCE and are eligible to sit entry examinations in most accredited areas worldwide. We advise all applicants to check in advance the legal status of any countries or states that may be of interest to them.

The European Council on Chiropractic Education awarded the following commendations to the McTimoney College

  • The mode of delivery allowing students from diverse backgrounds and maturity to enter the chiropractic profession.
  • The commitment of staff to enable successful delivery of the course at two separate centres.
  • The enthusiasm of students for the 5-year full-time (extended) programme.
  • The number of new patients attending the chiropractic clinic in Manchester.
